Romulus Middle School students were able to extend their learning beyond the classroom and take a trip to the Detroit Historical Museum. Students received a guided tour from a very knowledgeable docent about Detroit during frontier times through factory times. Student felt animal skins, entered a trading post, and learned about what made Detroit so attractive to Native Americans and settlers from Europe. Students were transported back to the 1800’s and walked the streets of Detroit in a recreation of the city. They went in to shops, looked at items, and enjoyed living the history for a few hours. The trip was paid by Adopt-A-Classroom Grant through the Detroit Historical Museum and was an enjoyable trip.
