The State of Michigan mandates that each school district develop a local coordinated school health program and a school health council to coordinate the following:

  • Make recommendations to the school board
  • Develop school health teams representing staff, families, students, and community in each building
  • Designates a school health program coordinator

A coordinated school health program is an effective system designed to connect health with education. This coordinated approach to school health improves students’ health and their capacity to learn through the support of families, communities and schools. 

The “Healthy Living Advisory Committee” is the  Coordinated School Health Program for Romulus Community Schools! 

Mission

The Healthy Living Advisory Committee  (HLAC) will provide a forum for all members of the Romulus community who are interested in developing a health-centered approach to living by recognizing, sponsoring and coordinating community education, policy generation, and programming.

Members Responsibilities

Develop, Guide, Implement and Evaluate the plan for our districts Coordinating School Health and Safety Program.

Our team will include representatives from the eight component areas within the school system and their counterparts from the community at large. Students and family members are critical participants in addition to administrators, school staff and health professionals.
